Marie offers CBT/TF-CBT/DBT/PE for individual therapy, group therapy, supervision and training in settings such as Social Care, Mental Health, Schools, Care Homes and other professionals. Marie previously worked at the Priory North London where she was the Lead Therapist on the Child and Adolescent Mental Health inpatient ward.

Marie has been a very welcomed guest lecturer at universities in Sweden, a facilitator at workshops, conferences and training events throughout the UK (NOTA and BABCP), in Sweden (Schools, Social Services and Care homes), the USA (ATSA),  and in Romania and Mexico.

Marie has been involved in developing many DBT- informed programmes in different settings, mainly for children, adolescents and young adults, both in Sweden and in England. She has offered training and supervision to other professionals who work with children and adolescents on how to improve relationships and regulate emotions in a DBT-informed approach. As a therapist, Marie has worked for many years with children and adolescents who have been sexually abused, suffered from complex PTSD/trauma and/or who have displayed harmful sexual behaviours. Over the last few years Marie’s client group has increased to include those who deliberate self-harm, have suicidal thoughts, suffer from depression, or have psychosis among other difficulties. As a qualified Social Worker, her work also involved child protection, child-in-need, unaccompanied minors and asylum seekers. Marie also has experience of working with children and adolescents presenting challenging behaviours, those autism spectrum disorder (especially high functioning), and ADHD.

Marie Wassberg qualified as a Social Worker in 1999 and to date, has experience working in Social Services in both England and Sweden. In 2003, Marie qualified as a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist (CBT), studying at Goldsmiths University in London with Professors Windy Dryden and Michael Neenan. She is registered with Social Work England and is an Accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist with BABCP (British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies) in the UK. Marie also has a Diploma in Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT), gained in 2010, where she trained with Dr. Elizabeth Malmquist and Dr. Anita Linnér in Sweden, as well as with Professor Alan Fruzzetti and Professor Jill Rathus in the USA. She is also trained in Trauma Focused-CBT (TF-CBT), including Supervisor training, in 2013, with Dr. Laura Murray (USA), in Prolonged Exposure (PE) in 2012 with Prof. Edna Foa (USA); and DBT for Schools (STEPS-A) in 2018 with Dr. Elizabeth Dexter-Mazza and Dr. James Mazza (USA).
