More about Julien

I understand that seeking help is a difficult and courageous step to take. I work with kindness and compassion, and I aim to create a safe, trusting and validating environment to enable change and empower children, young adults and parents/carers.

When I first meet parents and children/young people, we jointly evaluate together what they may be struggling with and I help to provide clarity; we then develop goals together and collaboratively devise a treatment plan and approach. For me, it is really important to think about what is the life that the person or family would ideally like to lead and how to get there.

Some of the approaches that I am trained in, and use, include:

    • ACT for anxiety and mood difficulties, along with help to find meaning and value in life.
    • NVR Parenting groups which have been shown to be effective to help parents of children young people with neurodevelopment disorders or behavioural challenges, and/or who may be adopted or have experienced developmental trauma.
    • CBT for low mood, stress, anxiety, sleep difficulties and post-traumatic stress.
    • DBT for problems with regulating emotions, relationships, self-harm, suicidal thoughts and urges. DBT with Parents and Parenting.
    • PE for Adolescents and Trauma-Focussed CBT for post-traumatic stress.

In addition, I have significant experience assessing and working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and Autism. Based in London, I am linked in with Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists, Family Systemic and Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists. I have run many groups for both parents (Non-Violent Resistance, Autism Awareness and DBT for Parents of Adolescents) and Young People (such as anxiety, stress, DBT etc).
